The Chow Wok Story

 

At Chow Wok, we make it our goal to provide both excellent food and friendly service at the same time to become a great restaurant.

Throughout the past several years, talks at the family dinner table centered around the dream of owning a restaurant. Ideas were taken down and built upon. However, the biggest challenges involved when and where to start the restaurant. Opportunity presented itself in the new year of 2017 at 156 Main Street, Sayreville.

Chow Wok is born!

Of course, more work and nurturing needed to be done. Over the next several weeks, consisting of hopeful joys and painful aches, the interior was conquered with fresh paint and décor. It wasn’t easy peeling off the stubborn, aged wallpaper and removing the clinging, broken floor tiles. Every day ended with new bruises and battle scars from the heavy lifting of moving furnishings around; from the bumping into things while navigating to retrieve more cleaning supplies; and from the unavoidable dirt, grease, and paint stains. Still, we journeyed forward....

To serve delicious Chinese food, the kitchen was updated with new equipment especially a new wok stove station. Of course, cooking the tasty cuisine is an experienced head chef with over three decades of working in the kitchens of multiple restaurants in NJ. At home in the kitchen, the wok is an extension of himself; his talented cooking techniques include stir frying, pan frying, steaming, deep frying, searing, and so much more....
